Product to Help with Vaginal Dryness

November 2008 email:

"I would like to submit what we have found. My wife has a thyroid condition that affects her in this way (dryness). After experimenting with various products - we have for 2 years or so we have been using "Jason's 98% Aloe Vera gel" with good/enjoyable results whether with condom or not". This gentleman also said the cost was about $12 and the product was available at most healthfood stores.

Ann Fonfa has been using this product occasionally and really likes it. www.sylkusa.com

Sylk (from the company's handout):

Recommended by best-selling author and gynecologist Dr. Christiane Northrup in her New York Times best-selling books such as “Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom”. Recommended by best-selling author and nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, M.S, C.N.S. in her book “Super Nutrition for Menopause”.

"Natural Personal Lubricant from New Zealand. The only natural water-based lubricant derived from the kiwi fruit vine. Effectively relieves dryness, gentle and safe for all sensitive areas.

Contains no harsh chemical additives or hormones, and is ultra slippery, non-sticky and long-lasting. The pH of Sylk is similar to that of skin-neutral in alkalinity and acidity. It is extremely gentle and non-irritating to delicate tissues, unlike lubricants based on petroleum jelly or gels.

Sylk is water-based so it is greaseless, stainless, odorless, and has no taste of color.

To alleviate routine vaginal dryness, apply a few drops topically with fingertips as often as required. For more pronounced dryness, a vaginal appliator can be filled with Sylk and used anytime.

It is easily washed off with water or a damp cloth or simply allowed to dry. Sylk works even better when a first application is allowed to dry and develop a thin film, so that with a second application, it reaches optimum viscosity.

Sylk is perfectly safe for use with condoms, since its natural ingredients do not compromise latwx in any way. Sylk is totally compatible with products manufactured for personal use such as tampons, condoms, sexual aids, PC muscle toners, etc.

Made from the extract of Kiwi Fruit Plant, purified water, xantham gum and minimal preservative (potassium sorbate, citric acid)."

Ann's NOTE: (10/13/02)I have occasional vaginal dryness. I bought this product through my osteopathic doctor. I used it several times and was so impressed I bought more bottles for friends/family.

I am chemically sensitive so am very careful what products I use on my body. Just one drop moistened all membrane tissue in the vaginal area.

It had no taste and no odor. I had no problem with it at all. I really like the way it worked and can highly recommend it.

COST: $19.95 approximately plus shipping/handling. It may begin to be carried in many pharmacies and healthfood stores. I understand that some places do have it already. It would be a good idea to ask for it, as more places might begin to carry it.

The company will honor individual orders:

11/11/03 At this point, some of my personal friends and family are using the product. Today a woman called to tell me how much she liked this lubricant. It really does work without any fuss, odor.

3/04 Another advocate/friend just told me this product has been working well for her.
