Chinese Herbal Medicine After Bca: Hot Flashes

Univ of Connecticut is condcuting a study looking at the effects of Chinese herbal medicines in reducing hot flashes in women with a history of bc.

Dr. Karen Prestwood is conducting the study and working in collaboration with hetbalist Laura Mignosa of CT Institute for Herbal Studies. Laura will formulate the Chinese herbs for each woman. The herbal treatment will be compared to an anti-depressant found to be effective in treating hot flashes and to a placebo. Participation involves 2 months on each treatment, weekly questionnaires, and periodic visits to the Health Center (Farmington, near Hartford, CT).
