From the January email (M. Sue Benford, PhD, RN:
"I am writing to make you aware of a recently-developed homeopathic product that you might find of interest. The CarcinPLUS remedy is classified as a homeopathic nosode.
Nosodes are created from the diseased tissue of an organism using the basic homeopathic principal of ˇ§like treating like.ˇ¨ The history of this practice stems from 1830 when Constantine Hering was the first to consider the use of nosodes.
Fifty years before Pasteur became famous for using rabies vaccine, Hering suggested the use of Lyssinum; however, he never incorporated nosodes into his own practice. Others have expanded this idea, and today there are nosodes for nearly every endemic and epidemic disease on the planet (Todd A. Hoover, MD, Homeopathic Prophylaxis: Fact Or Fiction, www.homeopathic.org/crtoddh.htm).
One such widely-used nosode is Carcinosin created from breast cancer tissue. A recent controlled clinical trial published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine entitled, "Efficacy of the Potentized Homeopathic Drug, Carcinosin 200, Fed Alone and in Combination with Another Drug, Chelidonium 200, in Amelioration of p-Dimethylaminoazobenzene Induced Hepatocarcinogenesis in Mice", demonstrates the effectiveness of Carcinosin, and other homeopathic remedies, to treat cancer.
Similar homeopathic studies addressing other cancers have shown equal, if not better, effectiveness, e.g., Canova, RUTA 6.
Preliminary results using CarcinPLUS are promising including in vitro studies using highly-aggressive brain cancer glioma cells (U87MG) demonstrating high percentages of cellular death rates in a series of experiments (ranging from 12-23% with expected levels of 0-2%).
A second in vitro study, performed at another facility and using lymphoma, also found significant results showing slowing of cancer cell growth rates beyond what was seen in the controls. Further testing is underway at this laboratory to determine if there is an immune-stimulating component to this remedy.
Early in vivo testing has been equally impressive. One test subject, a 59-year-old female, was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma via biopsy in Jan. 2003.
She had sporadically used a variety of CAM therapies but no traditional interventions. Her CA 27-29 marker immediately prior to starting the remedy was 147 (Oct.
2005). She had a CT scan of the chest, abdomen and pelvis on 9/6/05 that showed, vague ill-defined nodular densities in both lungs difficult to characterize . . . Metastasis cannot be ruled out. Sclerotic density mid-thoracic spine suspicious for a metastasis.
Deformed nodular left breast with mass effect inferiorly suspicious for primary or recurrent left breast cancer. Probable sclerotic metastases in the pelvis . . . A MRI of the pelvis on 9/22/05 found Bony metastatic disease seen within the pelvis. She began taking one 200c per day of the remedy in mid-October 2005.
Her Nov. 11th CA 27-29 marker was 145 at which time she began taking two 200c pills per day until first of December at which time she increased to one CM per day. On 12/8/05 a repeat CT and bone scan was conducted. The findings indicated:
There are no discrete nodules or masses at this time. The previously seen vague areas of nodular opacity remain. Their stability since September is reassuring for a benign process. Pelvic CT scan continues to show several sclerotic foci within the bony pelvis.
These are stable.
The patient had a negative bone scan - these sclerotic lesions are most likely secondary to a benign process. CA 27-29 marker fell to 123. She states she is feeling great and started noticing increased energy and stamina after taking the first pill. She has not had any form of traditional cancer treatment. Blood work drawn on Jan. 5, 2006 indicates the CA 27-29 marker is now down to 99.
Albeit this case is still pending, both her physicians and she are very pleased.
The breast cancer donor subject from whose blood this remedy was created, used a variety of well-documented natural supplements clinically shown to be effective in preventing/treating cancers and other conditions.
The supplements taken by this subject include:
* Proteolytic enzymes Pancreatin 56,000 USP-units/300mg, Papain 492 FIP-unit/180 mg, Bromelain 675 FIP-unit/135 mg, Trypsin 2,160 FIP-unit/72 mg, Chymotrypsin 900 FIP-unit/3 mg, Rutosid 3 H2O(Rutin) 150 mg
* Quercetin 134 mg
* Turmeric 800 mg
* Coenzyme Q-10 300 mg
* Folic Acid 800 mg as L-5 methyl-tetrahydrofolate
* Omega-3 fatty acids, 1500 mg EPA/DHA
A proving of this remedy in both animals and humans demonstrates that other conditions are also showing improvement beyond cancer. Some of these conditions in animals include renal disease, hepatitis, chemo-related side effects, and lethargy while in humans such conditions as Parkinson's disease and ADD have shown significant improvement.
Use of homeopathic remedies, including nosodes, which are derived from the body fluids of patients with a specific disease, have been conducted for centuries. It is important to note that, in the dilution being tested in this study, no actual blood molecules still exist in the remedy solution; thus, there is no possibility of adverse interactions and/or incompatibilities.
This remedy has been through the proving process, e.g., testing on over a dozen humans and a dozen animals. Humans who have used this particular remedy report occasional unpleasant sensations during the early healing process.
In homeopathy, these are known as aggravations. For cancer patients there is often pain at the tumor site, inflammation, feelings of heat, and other effects related to a heightened immune response. These aggravations typically subside after a few days.
Other aggravations reported during the testing of this remedy include nasal congestion, mild skin rash, vivid dreams, increased energy and vitality, and heightened feelings of well being. There has never been a reported overdose, death, or long-term disability or negative residual effect ascribed to the use of a homeopathic remedy.
