Beyond Flowers: What to Say and Do When Someone You Know Has Breast Cancer is a new film from Affinityfilms, Inc. which is targeted at those people supporting someone facing breast cancer.
It was produced to compliment Between Us, a film for newly diagnosed women by long term survivors. Both films are now included in the First Aid Kit for the Heart and Soul available off the website, www.betweenus.org.
Beyond Flowers features five Alaskan women in treatment and commentary by national experts including Oncology Nurse and 11 year survivor Lily Shockney, Oncologist Dr. Carolyn Hendricks, the Connecticut-based Team Towanda, and Cancer Coach Carole O'Toole.
The film is beautifully shot by Liza Bambanek and Nara Garber against the back drop of autumn in Alaska and is scored with the music of Beth Neilson Chapman.
The film is divided into seven sections: Acknowledging; Relating; Organizing; Processing; Healing; Transitioning; and Receiving.
Produced and directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker and survivor Mary Katzke, it was funded by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Focus Inc. and is currently available by ordering off the website or calling 1-888-353-HEAL.
